Broccoli Stem Fries!
Broccoli Stem Fries-serves 2
-A tasty and low-waste recipe for utilizing your organic broccoli stems!
Ingredients:
3 broccoli stems, peeled
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup unsweetened oat milk
¾ cup seasoned panko *we used Edward & Sons Italian Panko
½ tsp salt
½ tsp garlic pepper
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 400F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Peel the broccoli stems to completely remove the tough outer edge. Cut into “french fry” shaped strips.
Mix the flour with the oat milk in one bowl, and put the panko crumbs in a second bowl.
Take one broccoli stem at a time, coat with the flour and milk mixture, and then dip in the breadcrumbs. Place on the lined baking sheet, and repeat with all of the broccoli.
Bake until the stem fries are crispy, approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Season with salt and garlic pepper to taste and serve with a dipping sauce of your choice! *we served with the Café’s Spicy Southwest Sauce. YUM!
